T'was The Night Before Christmas...

Wow! It's already the Christmas season and I know you all are ready for the Christmas break. You've all done a wonderful job learning and applying new technology skills into your daily lives. I hope that you will continue to use what you have learned to advance your learning process in ALL of your classes. Be sure to help someone else who is interested in learning about using computers when they need your help. It's all about showing the world what you have learned.

How many of you remember the story "T'was the Night Before Christmas"? Well, we are about to find out! Let's make a list of the details you can recall, then we'll have a chance to watch the story online. You may want to pay close attention to the story because you will take a short interactive quiz that will show what you know. We're going to have fun!

Have a safe and Happy Holiday, and I will see you all in 2008! It was a true pleasure being your technology teacher for the past 4 months!

Typing Tips

As you are preparing to type your stories, here are a few tips that you should follow to make sure your story is published correctly:

1. Capitalize the first letter of the first word in each sentence.

2. Capitalize the word "I" and all proper nouns (Michael, Atlanta, The Georgia Dome, etc).

3. Always use two spaces after a period.
example: Thank you for the candy. It was really good.

4. Hit the tab key once when beginning a new paragraph.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Your Stories Are Great!!!!

I am absolutely enjoying some the fairy tale and superhero stories that you all are in the process of publishing. You've remembered to include the recurring themes, and your imaginations are soaring! I'm happy that ALL of you are so excited to work with this project. After we get them published online, there are a few other things we will do. But first, we need to begin the Wikispaces process in order to have your stories published where visitors can read them.

Remember...Wikispaces is all about collaboration

What Are You Thankful For?

Hey Techies!

We are going to take a break from the project just for a moment...

As you already know, the Thanksgiving holiday is only a few days away. I know you are excited to spend this time with your family and friends.

I want you to remember that Thanksgiving is not just about eating turkey and dressing and watching the Macy's Day Parade. It's also about being THANKFUL for the things that matter most in your life...your family, your friends, good health, a roof over your head, food on your table...

Though some of you may think that you don't have a lot to be thankful for, think again...

After watching this brief video, I want you to DEEPLY think about the things you have been blessed with during your life. Once you see the video, I truly believe you will realize that you have so much more to be thankful for that you could possibly think.

While you are watching the video, I want you to make a list of the things you are thankful for. After seeing this video, you should have a really long list. Once you have finished watching the video, please post a comment to this blog entry that describes how you felt after watching the presentation.

Click here to watch the video.

The Assignment

Sign in to your G-Mail account and access you Google Documents. You are responsible for creating a Document presentation that represents what you are thankful for. You need to locate at least 5 pictures for this project that represent the things you are thankful for and import them into your Google Document. Finally, you need to upload your document to your blog.

Have fun, and Have a Happy and Safe Thanksgiving!

It's Time to Map Your Stories...

Hey Techies:

Now that you have experimented with creating the characters you will use for your stories, it's time to actually start the story development process with your partner. I wanted you to develop your characters first because it would assist in building the framework for the stories you will write...

The very first thing you and your partner should do is to think of a story title and character names.

Click here to access the site. I will walk you through the process. Remember to ask any questions that you need answers to.
